Intro & profile
Welcome to the revamped walespressphoto web site
Jeff Morgan discovered photography rather late in life, in 1981 at the age of 26. By chance his local college ran the world's leading course in Documentary Photography under Magnum photographer David Hurn. He studied there as a full-time student '84-'86 and subsequently returned to the course as a part-time lecturer '90-95. Since '88 Morgan has worked as a freelance photographer for The Guardian covering Wales, the West Country and South West Midlands. A regular contributor to the paper, he has had many front-page pictures over the years, working on assignment and offering his own story ideas. Apart from being published in every national newspaper in the UK other publications as diverse as Newsweek, New York Times, Sports Illustrated, Sydney Morning Herald and Welsh language magazines Golwg and Barn have all used his work. Morgan has previously won the BT Welsh Press Photographer of the Year and also BT Welsh Journalist of the Year (the only time it's been won by a photographer). On those rare occasions when he is not shooting pictures he can usually be found listening to the Grateful Dead, fishing, gardening or walking in the Brecon Beacons.
Over 17,000 of Jeff Morgan's images are available at Alamy for immediate purchase on line
