Llanwrtyd Wells Smallest town in the UK and home to the World Bog Snorkelling Championships
When Gordon Green MBE had the idea of bog snorkelling, over a late night drinking session in the Neuadd Arms Hotel, he could hardly have imagined that after 20 years it would still be going strong. Competitors have to complete two lengths of a 60 yard trench cut through the peat bog in the quickest time possible, wearing snorkels and flippers (wet suits optional but advisable) but without using any conventional swimming strokes. The 2004 event was the biggest yet with 140 competitors, 99 finished the course. The town is also home to other weird and wacky events some of which are shown here.
